Name the three branches of the government that these locations represent? (5points)
Bonus Point Opportunity!

What is the location of the highest mountain peak in the Western Hemisphere? Northern Hemisphere? The contiguous United States? (Bonus points for all three. Look-up contiguous, if you're not sure. You don't have to go to Alaska to find the definition.)

9-22  Here is a great site to help you remember the states. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Multiplication Facts

Here is a great link to multiplication facts. It's fun too. Try it.

Overview

As a student in 5th grade, you are expected to grow as a thinker, writer, reader, and learner.  In order for you to grow, your best effort is expected! I will provide for you many opportunities to learn.  You can check out what is happening in the classroom each day by going to our web page above.  If you need to respond or ask questions use the email address above.  If you email me after 8pm I will probably be resting or reading.  You should be too.  I’ll answer any questions the next day.

Materials

You are expected to be prepared to learn each day. You need to bring to school each day the things you know you need like your homework, reading book, and pencils and notebooks.  You may leave in your desk the things we use in class.  It might be useful for you to have a special spot at home to do your homework.  Equip that spot with the materials you need each day.

Discipline Policy

You are expected to follow all the school rules as described in the student handbook.  Poor choices on your part will be subject to appropriate consequences. My goal for you is to grow and learn in a healthy, safe, and secure classroom. The motto “Respect yourself, respect others, respect your environment and respect learning” is the guide.

Homework

You are expected to do homework! It will be assigned nightly. The planner, a study buddy and the class website above are resources you are expected to use to accomplish your homework. It will be evaluated based upon your best attempt and the evidence that proves you made your best attempt.

The following items are bonus point opportunities. Find the answers to the questions. Write your answers on WLP. Have fun exploring geography!

Which states have the largest populations?

What are the New England states?

Which state is more arid - Indiana or Arizona?

What present day states did the Oregon Trail pass through?

Which state has  panhandle - Kansas or Idaho?

Which state is more likely to experience a hurricane - Tennessee or North Carolina?

Which state is closer to the Tropic of Cancer - Maryland or Alabama?

What states of the contiguous states are the farthest north?
